Rank #6 in Best 85mm Lens 2026: Nine Ranked, and the Aperture Fields That Make No Sense
Viltrox AF 85mm F2.0 EVO Z (Nikon Z)
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The Viltrox AF 85mm F2.0 EVO is a full-frame 85mm prime for Nikon Z bodies, and it sits at number six in this guide at £265.00 — well under the £569 each that the two Viltrox 85mm f/1.4 Pro lenses in the same list sell for. It is also the tidiest of the Viltrox entries on the point this guide keeps running into: the aperture is filed as '2 f' and '16 f', not as a number of millimetres, so at least here the ratio has not been turned into a length. The specification lists 9 diaphragm blades, and unlike the f/1.4 Pro sheets, no bullet in the copy quotes a second, different figure.
What the listing does get wrong is the mount label. The title, the 'Compatible Mountings' field, the 'Lens Mount' field and the manufacturer part number (WY-85mm F2.0 Z) all say Nikon Z, but the model name is written 'AF 85 mm F2.0 EVO FE' — FE being the Sony E-mount tag. Nothing else on the page explains the FE, so a buyer reading the model name alone would think this was a Sony lens. It is filed as 'Lens Type: Standard', not Macro, which keeps it clear of the mislabelling the Nikon 85mm f/1.8G carries in this guide. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing and its customer reviews; we have not tested the lens ourselves.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“I bought this to go on my Nikon Z50ii, so I could shoot some low light indoor sport and candid shots at a powerlifting meet. I have to say that it performed very well, and I was able to get a ton of great pictures for all of the competitors. While I can't speak to the durability, having only had it a few months, it's not made of premium materials. If it were, it certainly wouldn't be at the price point it's at. It does seems to be high quality though, and I don't have any concerns about it lasting a long time as long as I'm not abusing it.The smaller size makes finding room for it in my camera bag easy. It's very portable and easy to handle when on my camera. As for image quality, the autofocus is fast and everything comes out exceptionally sharp. I have zero complaints, and the times that I missed, were definitely my fault and not the lense.”
Verified purchase“Works for Nikon Z30. Love the quality. The auto focus sometimes takes a second or too but not horrible. Pictures and videos are crisp and beautiful. I took a risk with this, and it was worthwhile.”
