Rank #2 in Best Guitar Amps 2026: 10 Ranked, and Where the Spec Sheet Fights the Bullet
Positive Grid Spark 2 50W Smart Practice Amp
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The Positive Grid Spark 2 is a 50-watt digital modelling amp with a built-in looper, a companion Smart app and Spark AI tone matching, and it sits at number 2 in our guide to guitar amps at £225. It is one of the products here where the listing mostly holds together: the bullet says "50-Watts" and the spec table's Output Wattage says "50 Watts", so the same figure appears in two places and we are happy to credit it. The headline rating is 4.4 from 1,283 ratings, and the histogram published alongside it adds up to 100 entries, 76 of them five-star and 7 of them one-star.
The figure that does not survive the cross-check is the power source. The spec table lists "Battery Powered", which reads as though the amp runs on batteries as standard. The bullet says something narrower: "Play up to 12 hours with optional battery power. (Battery sold separately)". So the 12 hours is conditional on a battery that is not part of the £225, and the spec table does not say so. The speaker size has the opposite problem — the bullet claims "premium angled FRFR speakers" without a measurement, and 30.48 centimetres turns up once, in the spec table, so we treat it as a claim rather than a confirmed figure. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing — its bullets, its spec table and its customer reviews — and not from any test of our own.
How those 1,283 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.4 stars.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“Excellent bit of kit. Plenty of amps and other bits to emulate and play. AI is actually quite good - name a song and creates similar sounding guitar. My Jackson guitar seems to like the amp. Main speaker sound is very good, headphone output seems a bit rubbish and produces different sound flavour compared to the main speaker. Easy to stream music and use it as a bluetooth speaker or soundbar. Excellent value for money. Easy to setup and connect to PC for some recording.”
Verified purchase“High sound fidelity - I am so suprised by how good this sounds! I was using a Mustang Micro for silent practise but this blows it out of the water. set-up was really quick. There are plenty of feautres and will take time to explore but if you just want to plug and play you can do that in 5-10 mins”

Questions people ask
Does the Positive Grid Spark 2 run on batteries?
The spec table lists the Power Source as "Battery Powered", but the bullet says "Play up to 12 hours with optional battery power. (Battery sold separately)". The 12 hours depends on a battery bought on top of the £225, and the listing does not say what that battery costs.
How loud is the Spark 2?
The bullet states "50-Watts" and the spec table's Output Wattage states "50 Watts". The listing publishes no sound-pressure figure, so 50 watts is all there is to go on.
What size are the speakers?
The spec table lists Speaker Size as 30.48 centimetres. The bullet only describes "premium angled FRFR speakers" with no measurement, so that figure appears once on the page rather than twice.
How many channels and what output mode?
Output Channel Quantity is listed as 2 and Audio Output Mode is listed as Stereo. The connectors listed are 3.5mm Jack.
Can it be used as a Bluetooth speaker?
The product name itself includes "Bluetooth Speaker", and the Item Highlight mentions the Smart app with Spark AI. The listing does not publish a separate Bluetooth specification.
What instruments does Positive Grid list it for?
Compatible Devices is given as "Double Bass, Guitar", while the Item Highlight says it covers electric, acoustic and bass guitars. Those two entries do not say the same thing.
