The WattCycle 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 is the battery at number one in this guide. Its listing gives 12.8V and 100A, which multiplies to 1,280Wh, or 1.28 kWh, of nominal capacity. At the listed £195.99, that capacity works out at £153.12 per kWh — more than the ECO-WORTHY 48V 100Ah at £139.65 per kWh, and roughly half as much again as the Rvpozwer 12V 100Ah at £101.55 per kWh. First place in the ranking, then, is not first place on price per unit of stored energy.

The listing also carries two numbers that sit awkwardly together: up to 15,000 charge cycles, and a 5-year product warranty. Fifteen thousand daily cycles would be a little over 41 years of use, so the warranty covers only a fraction of the cycle life claimed on the same page. The 4.5-star rating comes from 399 ratings. Everything on this page is taken from WattCycle's own Amazon listing; we have not tested this battery ourselves.

Questions people ask

What capacity does the WattCycle 12V 100Ah hold?

The listing gives 12.8V and 100Ah, which is 1,280Wh, or 1.28 kWh, of nominal capacity. No usable-capacity figure is given on the page.

How much is the WattCycle 12V 100Ah per kWh?

At the listed £195.99 for 1.28 kWh, the price works out at £153.12 per kWh.

How many units can be connected together?

The listing states support for up to 4 units, either in series for 48V or in parallel for more capacity. It does not give a figure beyond those four units.

What protection does the BMS give?

The 100A BMS is listed as protecting against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuits and temperature extremes, and as shutting the battery down in unsafe conditions. Low-temperature protection is also listed.

Does the warranty cover the claimed cycle life?

The listing states a 5-year product warranty alongside up to 15,000 charge cycles. At one cycle a day, 15,000 cycles is over 41 years, so the warranty period is much shorter than the cycle claim.

How heavy is it and what size is the case?

10.5 kg and 26 × 17 × 21 cm. The listing describes it as a BCI Group 24 case and says it is over 50% lighter than traditional lead-acid leisure batteries.

What temperatures does it work in?

The listing gives an operating range of -20°C to 70°C, with built-in low-temperature protection that prevents charging in unsafe conditions.
