Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The TP-Link WPA7617 KIT costs £69.99 and is rated 4.3 stars from 1,742 ratings, with AC1200 Wi-Fi, a 1000Mbps link and a passthrough socket.
It takes eighth because it reaches places a Wi-Fi booster cannot — its own buyer runs it to an outbuilding seventy metres away — and because the kit contains the best-selling adapter from number seven inside it.
How those 1,742 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.3 stars.
