The KOHLBURG Helsinki chain lock takes #4 in this guide at £69.20, with a 4.6 average from 1,150 ratings. It is also the clearest example here of a grade and a price pointing in different directions: the Helsinki carries Sold Secure Gold, the same grade as the £15.95 Burg-Wächter 273S, for £53.25 more. KOHLBURG buys you length and mass rather than diameter — the listing gives 0.33 in / 8.3 mm four-edge links across 125 cm of chain weighing 2.5 kg.
The listing is blunt about its own trade-off, arguing that chain locks of 0.25 in diameter or less are much lighter but hardly offer reliable protection, and it sells the Helsinki for bicycle, e-bike, moped, scooter and motorcycle use. Worth noting when you compare across this guide: the 12 mm figure quoted on the cheaper £18.03 Combo is a U-lock shackle, not a chain link, so it is not the same measurement as the 8.3 mm here even though both are quoted in millimetres. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing and its customer reviews — we have not tested the lock ourselves.
