The Kryptonite Evolution Mini-7 takes the top spot in this guide at £46.99. It is a U-lock with a 13 mm hardened MAX-Performance steel shackle, a double deadbolt design, a sliding dustcover and a disc-style cylinder the listing describes as pick and drill resistant. The name also includes a 4 ft KryptoFlex double loop cable, and the item type is listed as a lock with flex cable and bracket. It carries 4.5 out of 5 from 14,170 ratings, second place in Cycling U-Locks and rank 720 in Sports & Outdoors.
What stands out on this fiche is not the steel but the arithmetic around it. The £18.03 combo U-lock elsewhere in this guide is listed with a 12 mm shackle, so the step up here is 2.6 times the money for 1 mm more steel. The listing then disagrees with itself on what actually arrives: one field says 3 pieces, another says 1 included component, and two more say 1 item. Every figure on this page is taken from the Amazon listing, not from a lock we have tested or cut.
