It is compact, holds a solid 4.2 stars across 591 ratings, and is a tidy single-function choice for a home office that prints regular documents and wants duplex without stepping up to an all-in-one.
The reason it is not higher is the same running-cost caveat as every HP here: the toner costs more per page than Brother's, and the box cartridge is a starter. Does it really print the first page in one second?
No. The listing's "1 second" first-page-out figure is a catalogue error — a laser printer has to warm its fuser, so the real figure is around 7-8 seconds. We flag it here because reading the spec sheet critically is the whole point of this ranking.
