“OK. I need to make it absolutely clear that I didn't pay for this TV. I am fortunate to be part of the Amazon Vine community, and I was completely blown away to be offered this set in exchange for an honest review. I wouldn't have considered spending this sort of money on a TV right now, so I think that I owe it to you, the consumer, and to the manufacturer to give proper, genuine feedback in exchange for the item that I received. It's a very good review, but it accounts for current pricing as well as quality.Packaging / Delivery: The TV arrived via Prime, 'next day' delivery, in familiar packaging for a flat screen TV, with pre-formed, robust polystyrene to keep it safe. In the box, was the TV itself, remote control, components for the stand, instructions and miscellaneous small items. I would rather that more readily recycled cardboard be used instead of polystyrene, but it's better than a broken TV, I guess.First Impressions: The TV is replacing a much more 'entry level' set, so I expected to see a big difference. I have owned a lower budget Hisense screen before, and the quality upgrade was noticeable. For a start, I have found that budget Hisense TVs tend to be incredibly light, and they don't feel particularly robust (as I discovered when a neighbour's child put a golf ball through the screen). This latest product was a bit heavier than expected. Whilst it's still quite manageable to move around and unpack, the TV feels solid, as though it's made from good quality components, screen, speakers etc – I imagine that the subwoofer etc make a difference. The finish and trim are basic, but nice enough, and the stand is effective and easy to assemble, making the whole thing feel very stable. In summary, it looks and feels good, if not premium – a bit more of an upgrade to the standard Hisense remote would have been nice too.Picture Quality: Amazing! The first thing that I did was put on Blue Planet and hopefully the photos do it some justice. The picture is pin-sharp, with amazingly vivid colours that really do leap out. The view really is terrific compared with my older set. The one feature that it's missing is the non-reflective, anti-glare screen; Hisense do this really well and it would have been a welcome addition to the set sitting near a window, but I guess that it comes at a price.Sound Quality: I already owned a reasonably old but premium brand soundbar and I have to say that the sound from the TV is better – deeper and richer in almost every sense across the full spectrum. I've used the soundbar elsewhere because the TV audio is better in all respects.Connectivity / Apps: WIFI setup was easy. All of the usual streaming apps and 'Freely' live TV over internet are all pre-loaded. There were a few error codes on first start-up, but all has worked well since a firmware upgrade soon after installation.SUMMARY: At time of ordering, this Hisense 50" 50Q8STUK MiniLED TV was priced at £999.00. It's temporarily out of stock, but I'm fairly sure that it was going for £599.00 when I last checked so it's worth reviewing the current price before you hit 'buy now' in case there are any fluctuations.£599 is still a lot of money for most people to spend on a TV, so you want to get the right one. I was really debating whether to go for four or five stars. If it had still been retailing at £999 then it would have definitely been four, since the TV and remote don't look and feel particularly special, and it doesn't have the anti-reflective screen. However; I guess that the main point of a TV is the picture and sound quality and, in this case, both are absolutely amazing; both being crisp, sharp and vivid.At the lower price, I would say that this product firmly deserves a five-star recommendation.”

“This is a 50 inch MiniLED 4K TV. To be honest, I'm a bit of a technophobe so never really understand what all the options mean and was a bit dubious whether I'd be able to appreciate all the features of this TV.Setting it up was super easy - it's slimline and quite lightweight and it screws on to the centre base with a few screws - then plug it in and it's done. No aerials needed or any other connections. It guides you through the set up on either the TV or I downloaded the Vidaa app and did it that way so I can control it through my phone if I want.There are so many options on it, it's unreal. I haven't tried them all because I don't know what some of them are but so far I've tried Voice Control, subtitles, all the apps, display settings etc and everything works fairly easily - there were a few greyed out buttons that only switch on if you have another option switched off so trying to figure out some of the combinations was a bit tricky - you would get used to it or set it once and forget about it.For the actual TV - it's superb. The clarity and colour on the screen is amazing - it makes me realise how old my other TV was and how dull it seemed it comparison - it's like they've turned up the brightness, made it sharper and enhanced the colours - the picture I took does it no justice at all, it's much better in real life.We watched a movie on it and the experience was completely different - not only picture wise but sound wise too - the built in subwoofer makes a big difference to the sound effects.This feels like a huge upgrade to our 4 year old TV, the kids are thrilled with it.”
