The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Essential Combo is number two in our best action cameras guide. It is a 4K action camera built around a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, with dual OLED touchscreens and 360° HorizonSteady stabilisation, listed at £295.00 and rated 4.5 out of 5 from 1,844 ratings.

The listing largely agrees with itself on battery life: the spec sheet's 'Battery Average Life: 240 minutes' matches the bullet claiming 'up to 4 hours of extended battery life'. Where it stops agreeing is the battery itself — the same spec sheet says '1 CR5 batteries required. (included)', and CR5 is not a battery size you would expect in an action camera, let alone the single cell behind a four-hour figure. The stabilisation claims, by contrast, line up between the spec sheet and the bullets. Everything on this page is taken from the Amazon listing for this product, not from any testing of our own.

“DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro (vs GoPro 13 Hero 13 Black - Forest Green limited edition)I've been looking for a multi purpose action/vlogging cam for a long time and watched many youtube reviews on them. I couldn't decide and so I purchased the 2 most favourable ones, the GoPro Hero 13 and the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. After using both of them for a few months I found the following good and bad pointsGood pointsBoth cameras were on par with recording video, audio and still photography quality. Not much to discern any real differences.Battery power again were on par with each other, not much difference between them, I got about 1hour and 30-45 mins (or there abouts) on both when recording at 4K 50fpsI prefer the user interface with the DJI a little better but both are good. The Bad pointsGoPro - when doing demanding continuous video recording for say over an hour, the camera will overheat and shut down. The DJI will continue to record and behave a lot better. To continue with more video footage from the GoPro, I had to switch it off and wait for it to cool down. If you're not careful and stop/shut down the camera after an hour, the video will become corrupted when exported to a PC/MAC for video editing (I use DaVinci Resolve 21).Sometimes even when conditions are good with the camera, the GoPro video footage when exported to PC/MAC will stop and crash in DaVinci when doing, say eliminating video noise and general editing. To resolve this I had to use another program like Wondershare Filmora which doesn't have as good features and doesn't support audio VST pro plugins and or export at higher quality/low compression then export that into DaVinci. Also the GoPro naming convention is not great to import the fragmented video files into DaVinic. No bad points to say about the DJI - all goodGood pointsBoth record video at good quality though I would like to change the compression settings for better video quality (both these cameras weak points), they both capture to mp4.ConclusionI would give the better edge to DJI because of the reliable capture quality and less overheating effects. Not to mention it's cheaper. The GoPro 5.3K capture is a bit of a gimmick because the compression quality reduces its performance somewhat though the GoPro it does behave better when capturing a very high frames per second for that really good slow motion effects. Stabilization is a bit better on the GoPro in very extreme circumstances but in general they are on par with each other. Low light behaviour is a little better with The DJI but both cameras do benefit from recording in good daylight.”

“Excellent equipment traded my DSLR camera for this. Much more convenient and photo and video quality surpasses my camera. Great price since a newer model was just launched”
