Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.

The BOSS Katana-Mini is a solid-state practice amp listed at £95.00, and it sits eighth in this guide. Its bullets describe an all-analogue input circuit with multiple gain stages driving three classic sound settings, plus a "three-band analogue tone stack" — and that last phrase is where the listing agrees with itself. The spec table says "Number of Bands: 3", so the same figure turns up in two places, and that is the standard we apply throughout: a number that appears twice we treat as a specification, a number that appears once we treat as a claim.

Two other figures get no such backup. The 7-watt output and the 4-inch speaker each appear only once, in the spec table, with no bullet repeating either. The Katana-Mini is listed as Battery Powered and its product name says it "Runs On Batteries", but nothing in the listing states whether batteries are supplied in the box — a question worth settling before spending £95.00 on a battery amp. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing itself: the bullets, the spec table and the buyer reviews. We have not tested the amp.

What buyers actually say

“It's not cheap, it's not the loudest, it doesn't have the most features...but it's Boss and sounds great to me. I gig a bit and sometimes rehearsal (with backing tracks) is in my dining room so who needs a Katana 50watt? Haven't bothered with an adaptor yet as it seems to run for ages on batteries...I use rechargeables...and has all the sounds I need to play along, at those levels (singing without a P.A. to practice) it's more than loud enough. When you buy Boss...you usually know you're getting quality.”

“Wow what a cracking little Amp the Boss KTN mini is. The output of sound belise the size of the little 7 watt amp. My 20 watt cube and 15 watt mini cube are Roland's, and a bit heavy to shift about. This lives up to the Roland name with knobs on. Works great with my Epiphone Sg 400 and Guild Acoustic along with my Taylor acoustic guitar. Really nice Amp. Decent price tag quality product despite being plastic a really good build quality. No problems in recommending this Five stars.👍🎛️”

Questions people ask

How loud is the BOSS Katana-Mini?

The listing gives its output wattage as 7, a figure that appears only in the spec table and in none of the bullets. Its own bullets talk about "big, full tone" rather than volume, and one buyer review calls it "not the loudest".

Does the BOSS Katana-Mini run on batteries?

It is listed as Battery Powered, and the product name describes it as an amp that "Runs On Batteries". The listing does not say whether batteries come in the box or are bought separately.

How many tone bands does the BOSS Katana-Mini have?

Three. The spec table lists "Number of Bands: 3" and a bullet describes a "three-band analogue tone stack", so the same figure appears in two separate places.

What size speaker does the BOSS Katana-Mini use, and what is it made of?

The spec table lists a 4-inch speaker and a plastic enclosure. Neither figure is repeated in any bullet, so both are listed specifications rather than descriptions the listing makes twice.

Can I play along with music from a phone?

Yes. A bullet lists an aux input for jamming with music from a smartphone, and the spec table lists a 3.5mm jack connector and a headphone audio output mode.

How is the BOSS Katana-Mini rated by buyers?

4.6 out of 5 from 2,665 ratings on the Amazon listing. Most of those ratings are five-star, with a small number at the bottom of the scale.
