The MAONO MH700 is a wired, closed-back studio headphone with 50 mm dynamic drivers, listed at £41.64 and sitting at number 8 in this guide. Its listing carries 4,245 Amazon ratings at 4.4 out of 5 — the same star figure as the Shure SRH840A, which has 242 ratings and costs £133. The rating breakdown shown on the page reads 68 five-star against 6 one-star.

Impedance is the number this guide keeps coming back to, and the MH700 states 32 ohm — the same figure as the OneOdio Pro-002, M-Audio HDH40 and Vic Firth SIH3, and a long way from the 250 ohm beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO. It pairs that with a stated 100 dB sensitivity. Two fields on the listing are less useful than they look: Frequency Response reads '20 KHz', which is half of a range rather than a range, and Wireless Technology Type says 'WIRED' directly beneath a Network Connectivity Technology field that already says 'Wired'. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from any testing we have done.

What buyers actually say

“I am very happy with my new head phones, they are perfect for me, I listen to a lot of vocal music and films, and the sound was very clear and not distorted in anyway. The head phones are very well made with soft pads for me ears, and I like the head band that you can take off and change for a different one once it gets worn out, two cables one for PC and phone and one for studio equipment, but you can still use both of them with with a phone or PC so it will good to have a spare cable on my travel.I had the head phones on for a couple of hours and I really did not feel then at all, they sat on my head very comfy with no issues and complete covered my ears, but my ears did not hurt in anyway, the weight of them on my head was ok with no issues, I highly recommend them thank you.”

“These headphones are excellent for the price. They are well made and and comfortable to wear. The audio quality is very good for the price point and the phones compare well with others I have that cost 2/3 time the price. The real plus point is the sensitivity which is higher than most phones. This enables the MH700 to be driven by a Roland digital piano whose output is not sufficient to drive most headphones.”

Questions people ask

What impedance are the MAONO MH700 headphones?

The listing states 32 ohm — the same figure quoted for the OneOdio Pro-002, MAONO MH700, M-Audio HDH40 and Vic Firth SIH3 in this guide, against 250 ohm for the beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO.

Do the MAONO MH700 need an amplifier?

The listing does not say they need one. It quotes 100 dB sensitivity, and the Wireless Technology Type field reads 'WIRED' under a Network Connectivity Technology field that reads 'Wired'.

What cables come with the MAONO MH700?

The box contents list a 3.5mm-6.35mm coil cable (3m) and a 3.5mm-3.5mm straight cable (1.2m), both detachable, plus a storage bag and a user's manual.

What is the frequency response of the MAONO MH700?

The spec field reads '20 KHz' — a single figure rather than a low-to-high range, so the listing gives half of what a frequency response normally shows.

How many Amazon ratings does the MAONO MH700 have?

4,245 ratings at 4.4 out of 5, against a price of £41.64. The Shure SRH840A in this guide carries 242 ratings at the same 4.4 for £133.

What drivers do the MAONO MH700 use?

50 mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets, described in the listing as delivering three-band balance with deep bass, wide midrange and crisp treble.
