The TOPDON TC004 Mini is the sixth camera in this guide: a pocket-sized thermal camera at £179.99, rated 4.4 out of 5 across 1,507 Amazon ratings, with 240x240 printed in the title. The first bullet on the same page says something slightly different — the camera "start[s] with 128x128 thermal imaging and enhance[s] to 240x240 resolution with TISR technology". So 240x240 is the enhanced figure, not what the sensor resolves.
The reason it sits at #6 instead of higher is what the same model costs elsewhere. A second listing for the identical TOPDON TC004 Mini sells at £149.97 and declares a native 160x120 sensor, TISR up to 320x240, a range of -20°C to 550°C and 14 hours of battery. This listing asks £30 more and declares a smaller native sensor (128x128), a lower ceiling of 450°C and one extra hour of runtime. Nothing on either page lets a buyer tell the two apart before the box arrives, and the price does not indicate which sensor is inside. Every figure on this page is taken from the Amazon listing as published, not from testing we carried out ourselves.
How those 1,507 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.4 stars.

Questions people ask
Is 240x240 the native resolution of the sensor?
No. TOPDON's own bullet says the TC004 Mini starts with 128x128 thermal imaging and enhances to 240x240 with TISR technology, so 240x240 is the interpolated figure rather than what the sensor captures.
What temperature range does the TC004 Mini measure?
The listing states -20°C to 450°C, with the camera automatically pinpointing the highest, lowest and central spots in the frame.
How long does the battery last?
TOPDON lists 15 hours of battery life, plus automatic shut-off options at 5, 10 and 20 minutes to extend the runtime.
How accurate is the TC004 Mini?
The specification field on the listing gives a measurement accuracy of +/-1%.
Can I change the display colours?
Yes. The listing says you can choose from 5 different colour palettes, naming White Hot and Black Hot among them.
What support comes with it?
The listing mentions TOPDON lifetime technical support, and states the camera survives drops of up to 2 metres.
