The AOC CU34G2XPD/BK is a 34-inch curved ultrawide gaming monitor at £249.90, sitting at number 6 in our guide to ultrawide curved gaming monitors. It is a 3440 x 1440 VA panel with a 1500R curve, listed with HDR400 and FreeSync Premium, a 130 mm height-adjustable stand, a removable stand and VESA 100 x 100 mounting. It carries 4.5 out of 5 from 561 ratings.

The reason it is worth reading the listing closely: AOC's own text does not agree with itself. The product title says 180Hz; the very first bullet point says "144 Hz refresh rate". The title says HDMI 2 x 2.0 while the fourth bullet says 2 x HDMI 1.4. The contrast ratio is listed at 1,000:1, yet one of the reviews on the page quotes 4,000:1, and that same review quotes a price of £199 against the £249.90 shown here. None of that makes the monitor bad — it makes the copy unreliable, which is exactly why it sits where it does in the guide. Everything on this page is taken from the Amazon listing; we have not tested the monitor ourselves.

What buyers actually say

“The AOC CU34G2XPD/BK is a feature-packed 34-inch ultrawide monitor that offers fantastic value at £199. The sharp 3440 x 1440 resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio allow me to comfortably work with three windows open side-by-side. Coupled with a deep 4000:1 contrast ratio, it delivers an immersive visual experience for everyday tasks and media consumption. While marketed heavily toward gaming, it performs brilliantly for daily office workflows and video content. I have connected it via DisplayPort to achieve the full 180Hz refresh rate at 3440 x 1440.Having used it for a couple of weeks, I'm really pleased with the outcome. I hope there won't be any dead pixels or loss of brightness over time, and I will update this review if I encounter any issues down the road.”

“You get a lot for your money with this monitor. Just make sure to check the exact model number you're buying because one letter changed could mean you get sound or don't get sound. Or USB power delivery or not.High refresh rate, that even if you're not a gamer, you don't know that you need until you use it. There's no going back.HDR it's not bad for a monitor of this price. But it does dramatically increase the power usage, so you might want to turn that off. Has a USB hub. Very nice. And for such a cheap monitor, the stand is height adjustable and can be removed so that the monitor can be-attached to a standard vesa mount. This is not an IPS panel, so colours are bright and possibly slightly oversaturated. If you need a true colour accuracy you need to be spending more for an IPS panel, and then you probably aren't gonna get the refresh rate to be as high as it is on this one. Unless you're spending lots.In short, absolute bargain, ultrawide and high refresh rate at this price, maybe I should've bought two”
