The ASUS TUF Gaming BE9400 is number 7 in this guide. It is a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router with six fixed antennas, a listed coverage range of 2,500 square feet and a price of £147.96, which puts it among the cheaper Wi-Fi 7 routers here.

The finding on this ficha is the gap between two numbers on the same listing. The main bullet and the maximum upstream data transfer rate both say 9400 Mbps, while the data transfer rate field on the same page says 5764 Mbps. The product name advertises quad 2.5G ports and the LAN port bandwidth is listed as 2500 Mbps, so no single port is listed above 2.5 Gbps — the 9400 figure is the bands added together, not what one device gets. Coverage is given as 2,500 square feet, in line with the other routers in this guide rather than the far larger figures claimed elsewhere in the ranking. Every figure on this page is taken from the Amazon listing and not from any testing of our own.

What buyers actually say

“When this is on offer it's by far the best deal for a Tri-band WiFi 7 router with 2.5Gb/s ports and from a familiar brand that gets regular updates.I've been using in AP mode - connected to the ISP router by Cat 6 LAN to give LAN ports and great WiFi just where I need it - a better option than Mesh setups. There's plenty of settings - especially in Router mode when replacing the ISP router - but easy to setup from web interface or app. Some neg comments from people who've got particular setups but I've seen no issues with Wi Fi drops etc - just respect the range limitations of the various bands 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz.The case is maybe a little larger than needs be. One thing I've noticed is some devices like a Pixel or PC aren't great at detecting a 6GHz network - no issue with 5Ghz etc but the speed can be 2x with 6GHz.”

“I read many reviews for WiFi 7 routers. I decided to go for the Asus router again. Mainly as we have had many Asus routers which have been good all round quality both in build and operationally. We decided to buy this model and were weren't disappointed. This is linked to our main router and provides a mesh base for our mesh units. The speed is outstanding and very rarely drops connection. I have been using Asus routers for years and this has definitely been the best with our network. One other superb feature is the built in router security .”
