The JBL Live Flex 4 close our wireless earbuds ranking, and JBL is a serious audio brand with the features to compete: active noise cancelling, its punchy bass-forward sound, a comfortable stick-style fit, waterproofing and Bluetooth 6, at GBP 131.21. On specification they belong in the mid-to-upper tier alongside the Nothing and Sennheiser pairs.
What they do not yet have is proof, and that is why they finish tenth. At 3.5 stars over just 31 ratings they have both the lowest average and by far the thinnest review pool in this ranking, and the breakdown carries 22 per cent one-star — too little evidence, and too poor a start, to recommend on a GBP 131 pair when better-proven rivals sit at the same money. The spec sheet is careless too: it lists the sensitivity as "98 Ohm" (ohms belong to impedance, not sensitivity), drops the driver size into the "Headphone Jack" field, and gives a "Battery Average Life" of just 4 hours per charge, low for the class. We do not reject a product for being new, but the combination of a weak, thin score and a muddled listing makes it the cautious close to the page. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.

Should I buy the JBL Live Flex 4?
Only if you already trust JBL and want its sound signature, and you are comfortable being an early buyer. At 3.5 stars over just 31 ratings it is the lowest-rated and least-proven pair in this ranking, and at GBP 131 the Nothing Ear (3), CMF Buds Pro 2 or Sony C510 give you far more certainty for similar or less money.
Why do they rank last?
On evidence. They have the features to compete on paper, but with only 31 reviews and a 3.5-star average — including 22 per cent one-star — there is too little proof of how they perform and last for most people. We rank on what buyers report, and here that is thin and weak.
How long do they last on a charge?
The spec table lists a "Battery Average Life" of 4 hours per charge, which is low for the class — most pairs here manage 6 to 11 hours. The overall figure with the case is higher, as with every pair, but the single-charge number is a genuine weak point.
What is the JBL sound like?
JBL tunes for a punchy, bass-forward sound that many people enjoy for pop and dance, less so for neutral listening. The fit is a comfortable stick style, and they are waterproof, so they suit sport and travel if the ratings improve as more reviews arrive.
Why does the spec sheet list "98 Ohm" sensitivity?
That is a unit error: ohms measure impedance, not sensitivity (which is in decibels). The listing also puts the driver size in the "Headphone Jack" field. They are careless catalogue entries rather than anything about the hardware, but they are of a piece with a listing that has not been carefully made.
Are they waterproof?
The listing describes them as waterproof, so they suit workouts and rain better than splash-only rivals. Check the exact IP rating on the current listing before relying on it for anything beyond sweat and light rain.
