The TP-Link Deco X10 3-pack takes first place in our mesh WiFi ranking, and it is the system most British homes should buy. Three Wi-Fi 6 units cover a normal house, it sets up through a simple app, it hands devices between units without dropping the connection, and it sits on more than ten thousand ratings at 4.5 stars — deeper evidence than anything else on the page. At GBP 149.99 for three units it is outstanding value, and Wi-Fi 6 is plenty for phones, laptops, TVs and consoles.
Its spec sheet quietly proves this ranking's central point. The box says "AX1500", but the specification table gives the data transfer rate as 1,201 Mbps — that is the 5GHz band on its own. The "1500" in the name adds the 2.4GHz band, around 300 Mbps, on top, so no single device ever sees 1,500; your phone connects to one band at a time. The listing also quotes coverage as 5,600 square feet, a lab figure reached only across all three units in open space, not through your walls. Being dual-band, the units share those two bands between your devices and the links between the units, which only becomes a limit in a very busy household. Is the Deco X10 really 1500 Mbps?
No single device sees 1,500. The specification table gives the real figure as 1,201 Mbps, which is the 5GHz band on its own; "AX1500" adds the slower 2.4GHz band (about 300 Mbps) on top to make a bigger number. Your devices connect to one band at a time, and in any case your broadband line is almost certainly slower than 1,201 Mbps.
Will three units cover my house?
For a typical UK three-bed home, yes. The listing claims 5,600 square feet, which is a lab figure measured without walls, but three well-placed units genuinely reach the corners of a normal house. Very large or awkward homes may need a fourth unit or a tri-band system.
Is Wi-Fi 6 enough, or do I need Wi-Fi 6E or 7?
Wi-Fi 6 is plenty for phones, laptops, TVs and games consoles, and it is what almost everyone should buy today. Wi-Fi 6E and 7 add a 6GHz band that only helps if you own devices new enough to use it, which most people do not yet.
What does dual-band mean for a mesh system?
It has two radio bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz), shared between your devices and the wireless links between the units. That is fine for most homes; a tri-band system like the XE75 Pro keeps a third band spare just to link the units, which only matters in a very busy household.
How hard is it to set up?
Easy, by every account. It uses the Deco app, which guides you through placement and setup, and reviewers repeatedly single out how simple it is. It also works with Alexa.
How many Ethernet ports does it have?
Two per unit, one of which connects to your router; the LAN port is gigabit. If you need faster-than-gigabit wired ports, look at a 2.5G system such as the Cudy BE6500.
