Rank #2 in Best CCTV Camera Systems 2026: 10 Ranked, and Three Listings That Contradict Themselves
Reolink 4K PoE CCTV System, 8CH NVR, 2TB HDD
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The Reolink 8CH 4K PoE NVR kit is a wired surveillance bundle: an eight-channel network video recorder with a 2TB hard drive already fitted, plus PoE cameras that take both power and video down one network cable. It sits at number two in this guide at £529.99, on a 4.3 average from 1,958 ratings. Its numbers are the ones that hold together: the title promises 4K, the bullets spell that out as 3840x2160 (8MP), the spec table lists the video capture resolution as 4K, and the 2TB storage claim in the bullets reappears in the specs as 2TB.
Two things inside the same listing do not line up. The detection bullet offers people, animals and vehicles, while the spec table's special-features field lists person and car detection only, with no mention of animals. And the only 330 ft figure in the copy is the maximum PoE cable run of 100 m — the spec table then gives 330 feet as the night vision range, the same number doing a second job. The listing also never says how many cameras arrive in the box, only that the NVR supports up to eight. At £529.99 it is not the cheap way into 4K here: the lowest-priced set in this guide, with four 8MP cameras and a 2TB drive, is £279.99. Everything below is taken from the Amazon listing — its specs, its bullets and its buyer reviews — and not from any testing we have carried out.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐After months of research and hesitation, I finally pulled the trigger on this Reolink 8CH 4K system, and I can confidently say it's one of the best purchases I've ever made for my home. The peace of mind it provides is absolutely priceless.Setup & Installation (It's easier than you think!):I'm not a professional, but the Plug-and-Play (PoE) design made installation surprisingly straightforward. Running the Ethernet cables was the hardest part, but once that was done, each camera powered up instantly the moment I plugged it into the NVR. No separate power adapters for each camera is a massive win. The system recognized the cameras immediately, and I was watching a live feed in under 10 minutes.Video Quality (Breathtaking):The 4K/8MP resolution is not a marketing gimmick. The clarity is stunning. I can read license plates on the street, identify faces with perfect clarity, and see every detail in my backyard, day or night. The night vision is equally impressive, providing a bright, clear black-and-white image without any annoying "white-out" from the IR lights. The color night vision on the included models (if applicable) is a fantastic bonus, allowing you to see actual colors in low light. The NVR & 2TB HDD:The Network Video Recorder is solid and silent. The 2TB hard drive offers plenty of storage; with all four cameras running 24/7, I get about two weeks of recordings before it starts overwriting. The mobile app (Reolink App) is excellent—it's intuitive, reliable, and I get instant push notifications for any motion detected. I can check in on my property from anywhere in the world with a crystal-clear live view.Final Verdict:If you're on the fence, just get it. You get professional-grade quality without the professional-grade price or complexity. For the features, ease of use, and incredible video quality, this Reolink system offers unbeatable value. A flawless 5-star product.”
Verified purchase“Ive always been a Swann fan for my CCTV for the last 15+ years but i was curious about this brand so thought i would take a gamble as it was on offer for £399.Wow the 4k video quality is really impressive and so is the night time night vision quality too, easy to install and its already setup to start recording 24/7, or you can click event history to see cars, people, animals etc that have set off the motion sensor, audio seems abit quieter than my Swann CCTV cameras but that's not a issue.Time to remove my Swann CCTV system and install the other 4k Cams, would recommend”

Questions people ask
How many cameras are in the box?
The listing does not say. It gives the Reolink NVR as an 8-channel unit that supports up to eight Reolink PoE cameras, and names compatible models including the RLC-520A, 510A, 810A, 820A, 811A, Duo 3 PoE and TrackMix PoE.
Does it come with a hard drive?
Yes. The Reolink bullets say the 2TB drive is pre-installed and records 24/7 across all cameras, with support for expansion to 8TB and a 16TB system total.
What resolution does it record at?
The Reolink bullets state 3840x2160, described as 4K 8MP and four times sharper than 1080p. The spec table lists the video capture resolution simply as 4K.
Can it see at night?
The spec table for this Reolink gives night vision as night colour with a range of 330 feet. Note that 330 ft (100 m) is also the figure the bullets give for the maximum PoE cable run, so the same distance appears twice for two different claims.
Does it detect animals as well as people?
The Reolink bullet says the AI identifies people, animals and vehicles, while the spec table's special-features field lists person and car detection only.
Is £529.99 the lowest it has been?
The listing shows £529.99. One reviewer says they bought it on offer at £399; that is that buyer's own purchase price, not a figure the listing quotes.
