Unusually, the manufacturer agrees: Kärcher's own copy on this listing describes the machine as being for light dirt and occasional use, and states plainly that it is suitable for cleaning small cars. Brands rarely talk their own product down, so when one names the limit it is worth believing.
For £129 you get 120 bar at 380 litres per hour, a 6 metre hose, a weight of only 4.2 kg and a T 1 patio cleaner in the box, plus the best average on the page at 4.6 from 827 ratings. The catch runs through every Kärcher in this ranking: no motor wattage is published anywhere, so the efficiency check we can run on the Bosch and the VonHaus cannot be run here. The specification field also reads 1,740.46 Pound per Square Inch, and a pressure given to two decimal places is an automatic conversion of 120 bar rather than a measurement. Is the Karcher K3 Classic Home suitable for washing a car?
Yes, and Kärcher says so itself on the listing: the pressure washer is suitable for cleaning small cars. The same copy describes the machine as being for light dirt and occasional use, so treat it as a car and light garden machine rather than a driveway tool.
How much cleaning power does it have?
120 bar at 380 litres per hour is 1,267 hydraulic watts. Unlike the Bosch machines in this ranking, Kärcher does not publish a motor wattage anywhere on the listing, so there is no way to check that figure against the power going in.
Why does the specification say 1,740.46 PSI?
Because it is an automatic unit conversion of 120 bar rather than a measurement. A pressure quoted to two decimal places has been calculated, not tested. It also makes the machine hard to compare with the Kärcher K4 on the same site, which publishes 130 Bars, and with the K7, which publishes 2,610 PSI.
Is the 6 metre hose long enough for a car?
It is workable but tight. One owner says the 6 metre hose is a little too short to get around a car without moving the machine, and that the ends attaching to the unit are plastic. He replaced it with a 15 metre hose with metal ends.
Can it damage car paint?
At 120 bar the risk is low compared with the 180 bar machines in this ranking, and an owner who was nervous about using a pressure washer on a new car reports that it worked well with the correct attachment and did not cause damage. Use the widest fan setting and keep the jet moving.
