The Kärcher K4 Power Control Flex is our number 4 pick and the machine to buy if you take paintwork seriously, because it is the only one in the ranking that makes using less pressure a deliberate act rather than an accident. Three pressure settings and a detergent setting are chosen by twisting the lance, and the level in use shows on a display built into the gun, so you can see that you are on the car setting instead of guessing at it.
The 8 metre hose is the second longest on the page and covers a whole car from one position, and the Plug 'n' Clean bottles drop in without decanting. Two things hold it at fourth. At £188 it costs £80 more than the Bosch at the top of the ranking for slightly less pressure and flow, and Kärcher again publishes no motor wattage, so the efficiency check cannot be run. Its own listing also cannot agree on weight: the specification field says 6.3 kg while the title, the bullet and Kärcher's comparison table all say 11.5 kg. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.

Why is the Karcher K4 good for car cleaning?
Because it lets you use less pressure on purpose. Three pressure levels and a detergent setting are selected by twisting the lance, and a display on the gun shows which one is active, so you can drop to the gentle setting for paint and raise it for the driveway without guessing.
How much does the K4 Power Control Flex actually weigh?
The listing gives two answers. The Amazon specification field says 6.3 kg, while the product title, the bullet list and Kärcher own comparison table all say 11.5 kg. That is nearly double, and for a machine sold partly on portability it is worth knowing before it arrives.
How much cleaning power does it have?
130 bar at 420 litres per hour is 1,517 hydraulic watts. Kärcher does not publish a motor wattage on this listing, so unlike the Bosch machines in this ranking there is no way to check that figure against the electrical power going in.
Is the supplied hose any good?
Owners are divided. One knocked a star off specifically because the supplied pressure hose kinks and bends, blocking the machine with an air lock, and bought a 30 metre kink free replacement. Another says the newer softer hose may crease over time. The 8 metre length itself is generous.
Is it worth £80 more than the Bosch UniversalAquatak 135?
On raw numbers, no: the Bosch has more pressure, more flow and a published motor wattage for £108. The K4 earns the difference only if the pressure control and the longer hose matter to you, which for regular car washing they may well do.
What is Plug n Clean?
Kärcher detergent bottles that slot into the machine upside down without decanting anything. When you have finished with detergent you turn the bottle the right way up and leave it in the slot for storage.
