The catch is the ceiling and the price. At £74.49 it is the joint-most expensive 5A model here, and its listing spells out no desulfation stage and no 6V mode. If your battery is already flat and you need the car started this afternoon, 5 amps is not the tool; if the car sits for weeks at a time, it is.

That said, 5 amps is maintenance current. It will not fast-charge a big diesel battery, and the 1-hour charge time in the table assumes a small, partly charged unit. If you run a 6V classic alongside a modern car, it earns its place; if you want raw speed, keep reading.
