The Kärcher K7 Comfort Premium is the most capable machine in this ranking and the one we recommend least for the job in the article's title. At 180 bar and 550 litres per hour it produces 2,750 hydraulic watts, 63 percent more than anything else on the page, and it arrives with a 10 metre anti-twist hose on a reel, a water cooled motor and a five year guarantee, which is the longest here by three years.
For a driveway, a patio or stone steps it is simply a better tool, and the 10 metre reel is the only setup in this ranking that reaches around a whole car without moving the machine. The problem is that 180 bar is far more than paintwork wants, and the risk of lifting lacquer or forcing water past a seal rises with it. You are paying £459.97, four times the price of the Bosch at the top, for pressure you should then be careful not to use. Note also that the specification publishes 2,610 Pound per Square Inch rather than bar, which makes it hard to compare with the Kärchers above it. Should you buy the Karcher K7 to wash a car?
Probably not, and that is not a criticism of the machine. At 180 bar it is more pressure than car paint should meet, and the risk of lifting lacquer at panel edges or forcing water past window seals goes up with it. Buy it if you have a large driveway and treat the car as a careful afterthought.
How much cleaning power does it have?
2,750 hydraulic watts, worked out as 180 bar times 550 litres per hour divided by 36. That is 63 percent more than anything else in this ranking. Kärcher does not publish a motor wattage, so there is no ratio to check it against.
Why is the pressure shown in PSI?
The specification field publishes 2,610 Pound per Square Inch, which is 180 bar. It is a converted figure, and it makes the machine awkward to compare with the Kärcher K4 on the same site, which publishes 130 Bars, and the K3, which publishes 1,740.46 PSI.
Does the 10 metre hose reach around a whole car?
Yes, and it is the only machine in this ranking that does so without moving the unit. The hose is anti-twist and lives on an integrated reel, which removes the tangling that owners of shorter machines complain about.
Does it need a strong water supply?
Yes, and this catches people out. One owner warns that the K7 at full power loves a good water flow, and that he had to replace a house water valve fitted the wrong way round, the outside tap and an ageing feed hose before the machine ran properly.
What does the five year guarantee cover?
Kärcher states a five year guarantee in the bullet list, built around the water cooled motor. That is the longest warranty of any machine in this ranking, where the next best is two years.
